About

“Hi, how are you, are you good, yeah? Sound!”

Homeless Shakespeare & The Pigeon Theatre is an innovative, entertaining band based in England’s East Midlands. Incorporating jokes, puns, and humour into their exciting live performances, the band was never a fan of the ‘fourth wall’ concept that separates the artist from the audience.
Since the launch of their first EP Caravan O’Funk, Gyp-Hop has been a staple sound for the band. Developed by amalgamating hip-hop and rap with ska, gypsy-swing, funk, and blues, Gyp-Hop quickly became an identifier of the bands idiosyncrasy. Since then, audiences have consistently danced their hearts out, with knees up skanking, to mosh pits, to the signature sarcastic Macarena.
What makes it hard to market this band is their lack of specific demographic; although niche and unique, the music seems universal to live audiences, being enjoyed by young and old, metal heads and roadmen, men women and everything in between.

Lyrical themes that dwell in the personal experiences of mental health, addiction and abuse, perceptive social commentary, and socio-political narrative and observation. The wide range of topics make Homeless Shakespeare’s songs emotionally broad, offering an array of experience and perspective.

Adaptable, persevering… Overcoming the challenge of being a self-funded musical act with a very niche artistic identity, with no members who can drive.
